Both young and old will enjoy crabbing in the rock pools and building sandcastles on the beach. The Danby Moors Centre is well worth a visit, with its interesting exhibitions and guided walks, while the excellent tea room there offers tempting refreshments. The elegant Victorian spa town of Saltburn is close by, with pretty ornamental gardens, an historic pier and a unique gravity-driven cliff lift, which begins at the top promenade and goes down to the beach below. With restaurants, cafes and independent shops, there is plenty to while away a pleasant afternoon.
