Glyn Ceiriog 2 miles. This lovely, detached, characterful cottage is set in a peaceful rural location, with stunning views of the rolling hills of the Ceiriog Valley, two miles from the bustling former slate mining village, Glyn Ceiriog. Dating back to the 1600s, this splendid cottage has been lovingly renovated to a high standard in order to provide excellent, contemporary accommodation, yet retains lots of lovely original features, including an inglenook fireplace housing a warming woodburning stove, exposed beams and slate flooring. With walks from the doorstep and an open stream running through the garden, this charming property is ideal for an away-from-it-all holiday with your family or friends, to be remembered for years to come. Downstairs the property offers a handy utility room, great for storing those muddy walking boots, as well as a cosy sitting room boasting a fairy tale stone fireplace framing a striking white woodburning stove, ideal to snuggle up in front of with a good book and your favourite tipple after a bracing walk in the country. This room leads through into a snug, where you can retreat to in the evening and swap stories late into the night. There’s also a convenient bathroom on the ground floor, as well as a light and airy open plan living area with a kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area with a homely feel and double aspect views of the lush garden and the mountains in the distance. From this room you can also see the spacious patio, a great place to sit in the morning and plan your day’s activities, or gather in the evening with your loved ones and a glass of something cool in hand. The first floor has large and welcoming bedrooms, both with beams set into the eaves, king-size beds and white cotton bedding. A shower room completes this lovely country accommodation. The surrounding area offers amazing views and excellent opportunities for walking and cycling amongst the hills and woodlands all around. You could also enjoy a spot of clay pigeon shooting, or even exhilarating whitewater rafting, tranquil fly fishing or horse riding. The bustling town of Llangollen is also within driving distance, where a great day out can be had perusing the tiny independent shops, or stopping for tea and cakes in a café. The impressive Chirk Castle is also well worth a visit, surrounded by fields grazed by black sheep and offering splendid walks amongst 480 acres of woodland. A modern, yet charming cottage nestled in the Welsh countryside, ideal for a holiday at any time of year.
