The Stables is a wonderful two-bedroom cottage resting between the idyllic hamlets of Mawbray and Beckfoot near Silloth, Cumbria and is only 200 metres from the sandy beaches of the Solway Firth. Enjoying a superb location along the coast in this designated Area of Natural Beauty with a private animal sanctuary next door, The Stables is a fantastic choice for your next getaway to the Lake District. Entering the cottage on the ground-floor, you will find an open-plan living space with a well-equipped kitchen. If the weather is nice, why not make the most of it and dine out in the large rear garden? After dinner, retire to the plush sofas in the sitting room or head upstairs to the snug where you will find a selection of books and leaflets on the local area. Completing the ground floor is a handy shower room where you can freshen up after the day's adventures. Head upstairs to two tastefully decorated bedrooms, a king size room, and a double room. Nearby you will find the Lowther Arms Community Pub, serving traditional pub classics and real ales, alternatively two miles further is Allonby which has two hotels with restaurants and two cafes. The historic town of Maryport is a further 5 miles away where you can stock up on essentials in the supermarkets before exploring marine life at the Aquarium, or enjoy the fascinating history of the Titanic and Mutiny on the Bounty at the Maritime Museum, or even visit the Roman Museum and learn about the history of the area. 5 miles in the other direction from The Stables is Silloth, you can visit the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty office and gain information on the Solway wetlands, home to the RSPB reserve Campfield Marsh. Consider trips out for the Wartime or Religious trails, with information on walks, cycling, and fishing you will be spoilt for choice, there is even the Silloth on Solway Golf Course which is of international standard and one of the finest in the country. Further afield is Carlisle where you can visit the Castle and learn all about the border wars or visit the Magnificent Cathedral, the museum is well worth a visit being on the site of the famous Hadrian’s wall which goes cross country to Wallsend on Tyne. Take a day to explore this or take it easy and picnic in Bitts Park or enjoy a spot of retail therapy. However, you choose to spend your time in the Lake District, be sure to choose The Stables as your base.
