There are a variety of boat trips available locally and as a busy working fishing port there is always something of interest going on in the harbour. St Abbs is a brief car journey away, where the stunning landscapes of the St Abb's Head National Nature Reserve and Starney Bay can be found. The village of Chirnside is accessible by car, a worthwhile destination to stop off at on your way to Paxton House, an 18th-century Palladian stately home well worth visiting. Just a short drive to the south, you will find the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, home to the historic ruins of Berwick-upon-Tweed Castle, as well as the River Tweed, where visitors can hop on a Berwick Boat Trip for a chance to see some aquatic wildlife up close. Travel a little further south and one can visit the stunning Northumberland coast, with Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle, both steeped in history and natural beauty.
