Bird's Nest is a luxurious and cosy seaside bothy, just a short stroll from the shores of Carrick Bay. Carrick Bay enjoys an amazing rural setting as well as providing a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Carrick shore is a place of unspoilt natural beauty boasting a picturesque sandy beach.
An ideal romantic retreat, this open plan space with wood burning stove offers year-round accommodation all on one level for two. The private, raised deck area provides the ideal spot for al fresco dining and enjoying the views.

Located approximately 5 miles from the picturesque small rural town of Gatehouse of Fleet which provides numerous opportunities for eating out - we highly recommend The Galloway Lodge for breakfast or lunch and The Ship Inn offers great food and beer! small shops, a delightful and testing nine-hole golf course, tennis courts, river and loch fishing. Historical attractions are Cardoness Castle, a late 15th-century fortified tower house that was the ancient seat of the McCullochs, and the ruins of Anwoth Church with its atmospheric graveyard, complete with Covenanter graves.

Slightly further afield but well worth a visit are; Kirkcudbright known as the Artist's Town due to its links with the Glasgow Boys and Girls. The town is also home to the Dark Sky Planetarium, Kirkcudbright Galleries, NTS Broughton House & Garden, former home of E.A. Hornel, a cookery school, community run swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, and an array of independent shops and eateries.

There are numerous nearby attractions and activities for both adults and children, including Cream o' Galloway where you can participate in ice cream and cheese making workshops, stroll round their nature trails and of course enjoy delicious ice cream afterwards. Slightly further afield is Galloway Activity Centre which offers both land and water-based activities on the shores of Loch Ken. The Galloway Forest, Britain's first Dark Sky Park is close by for excellent star gazing with the forest offering endless opportunities for outdoor pursuits from hiking, horse riding, fishing, clay pigeon shooting to name a few.
Bird's Nest offers beautiful night views of Galloway's dark skies through the four Velux windows above the bed which have remote opening and closing blinds.

Bird's Nest accepts bookings with a Monday or Friday arrival. Short break are welcome throughout the year for either 3 nights from a Friday or 4 nights from a Monday.
