In addition to a high street filled with mostly independent stores that offers a delightfully unusual shopping experience, Dunoon itself has a large number of taverns, coffee shops, and restaurants serving local seafood. With its walled garden, towering Giant Sequoia trees, and hillside walkways offering views over Holy Loch, known for its shipbuilding heritage and which, for a long time, served as a US Navy submarine facility, Benmore Botanic Garden is well worth a visit. With fantastic scenery, sailing, and walking opportunities, as well as Glasgow being only about an hour away by car, this incredibly lovely region of Scotland has something to please everyone.
