My husband and I are both in the building trade. We have restored this stunning cottage completely ourselves (with the help of local trades for the jobs we cannot do). I have plastered it and re-rendered the outside using eco friendly products. My husband has done the rest! We try our best to be as sustainable as possible and avoid damaging our environment wherever we can. I have a history in hospitality and was keen to return to this when we came upon this project. We love the North East and hope you will too during your stay here.

The village of Middridge was first settled around 500AD so as you can imagine it is steeped in history. From the first racehorse, to faeries on the village green and the Middridge Hoard there is much to discover in and around the village. There are many walks from the cottage, a park and play area. The Bay Horse pub is a short stroll from the cottage offering quality home cooked hearty meals and locally sourced drinks; complete with its own outdoor seating area overlooking the village green.

Located in Newton Aycliffe, this cottage is in a rural area. Heritage Park Stadium and Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those wishing to experience the area's natural beauty can explore Windlestone Hall Country Park and Whitworth Hall Country Park. Traveling with kids? Consider Sweet Greetings, or check out an event or a game at Sedgefield Racecourse. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
