Enjoying a peaceful, rural location, yet within a 10-minute drive of the coast, Martin Lane Farm Cottages offer welcoming and comfortable accommodation. Situated in the grounds of the main farm house and surrounded by 6 acres of landscaped gardens and open countryside, these former outbuildings have been transformed into four well-equipped holiday cottages. They combine the charm and character of the original buildings with all the comforts one expects, including contemporary bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms.
The Shippon (ref UKC906), is part of the original barn conversion and is a cosy semi-detached two-storey cottage which opens out onto the cobbled courtyard. The cottage can sleep 4 guests making it ideal for couples or a small family. The Dairy (ref UKC905), is a pretty, semi-detached single-storey cottage which offers studio style accommodation, and is ideal for couples looking for a romantic rural retreat or business traveller looking for a home away from home. The Granary (ref UKC907), is the largest of the four properties and the original barn doors have been replaced with a large picture window. It is a comfortable semi-detached two-storey cottage which will comfortably accommodate the larger family or group of friends. The Stable (ref UKC904), is the latest addition to Martin Lane Farm Cottages. It is a fully accessible, semi-detached single-storey cottage with its own private driveway.
The cottages are situated along a quiet lane approximately 2 miles from the west Lancashire village of Burscough. Burscough Wharf has craft shops, tea room, home made bread shop, restaurant, wine bar and comedy club. The market town of Ormskirk, 4 miles, has a good selection of shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants as well as a twice weekly market. Whilst the cottages occupy an idyllic countryside location, they are also close to the coast and just 8 miles away is the Victorian seaside town of Southport with its long, sandy beach and a good selection of bars, restaurants, cafés and shops. There are several golf courses nearby including The Royal Birkdale, which will host The Open in 2017. Martin Mere Wetland Centre, which is loved by visitors of all ages, is only 2 miles away or why not visit the National Trust’s Red Squirrel Reserve at Formby, 13 miles.
