Kirknowe, Jedburgh

Northumberland. Sleeps up to 6

Jedburgh 8.6 miles. Settled into the countryside of the Scottish boarders, in the rural area of Hobkirk, near Jedburgh, Scotland, Kirknowe is a lovely stone-built 18th century house that was previously a monk’s retreat and is now the ideal getaway for a family or group of adults. Pass through beautiful countryside to reach the property, parking off-road and unpacking with ease into a stunning living area where large arched windows and a sweeping staircase complement tartan décor and green and brown sofas resting beside the welcoming glow of a woodburning stove. Behind the sitting area you will find a dining table, ideal for meals and family games nights, and from her you will discover an amply fitted kitchen with large windows and a second dining table. Kirknowe has two ground-floor bedrooms which are both twins, one yellow and one blue with an ornamental fireplace, accompanied by a bathroom with blue panelled walls. Ascend the stairs to the gallery where an elegant super-king rests beneath a traditional wall hanging, and here there is a bathroom where you can enjoy a relaxing soak amongst the bubbles. This historic property is accompanied by a wonderful garden, extensive and ideal for your four-legged family members. Kirknowe rests within an isolated rural area a short drive from Bonchester Bridge. Travel to the town of Jedburgh where you will be able to stock up on essentials at the local convenience store as well as enjoy browsing shops selling local produce and tasty eateries. Here you can explore the history of the local area with Mary Queen Of Scots’ Museum, Jedburgh Castle Jail and Museum and the impressive Jedburgh Abbey, or travel a little further to find the impressive Cessford Castle. Countryside walks can be found at the beautiful Northumberland National Park. Make a rural getaway to remember with a stay at the characterful Kirknowe.
