Raybarrow, Windermere

Lake District. Sleeps up to 10

Raybarrow is a beautiful, detached cottage resting in the popular town of Windermere, Cumbria. With four bedrooms sleeping up to 8 adults and 2 children, this family-friendly holiday home is an ideal location for exploring the Lake District; well-behaved pets are also welcome to join you on your adventures! Find off-road parking for two cars in a quieter spot just off the high street where you can unload your belongings and make yourself at home. Hang your coats in the porch area with charming, tiled floors and plenty of space to leave walking boots, wellies and dry off the dog. Although a traditional stone cottage exterior, inside you'll find Raybarrow has been wonderfully refurbished with a smart, contemporary style throughout; enter the open-plan kitchen/diner and set the large dining table for 10 guests. The family chef can utilise excellent amenities in the kitchen area to prepare home-cooked meals, including a gas range cooker, microwave, a large Belfast sink and fridge/freezer. During the warmer months, step outside to find an enclosed side garden for pets and children to safely play on the lawn, along with outdoor seating on the patio to enjoy a drink alfresco-style. Perfect for movie nights or relaxing with a book whilst listening to the crackle of the open fire, the neighbouring sitting room offers a plush corner sofa and a Smart TV to spend time with loved ones. As the day draws to a close, four bedrooms invite you to rest your head at Raybarrow; the ground-floor double is served by a ground-floor shower room, ideal for elderly guests or those with limited mobility, whilst the first floor hosts a king-size with en-suite shower room, a super-king-size zip/link and a family room ideal for four little ones, with a bunk bed and two singles. Retreat to the spacious, sleek bathroom before bed to relax in the bubbles of the roll-top bath or step inside the large walk-in shower to rinse off the day, while a warm towel awaits on the heated towel rail. You'll find plenty of nearby amenities and attractions in Windermere to keep the whole family entertained; take a break from the kitchen and dine at one of the nearby restaurants or traditional pubs, along with plenty of bars to finish off the day with a tipple and find an abundance of shops along the bustling high street. Queens park is just a 2 minute walk from the property over the stream where children can play on the skate park and playground. Adventurous guests will relish plenty of water sporting activities along Lake Windermere, along with gentle cruises to take in the breath-taking countryside views; lace up your walking shoes and clamber up Orrest Head for the best panoramic views or pack your clubs and head to Windermere Golf Club. Take a short trip into the neighbouring village of Bowness to visit beloved characters and tales at The World of Beatrix Potter, whilst the Windermere Jetty Museum offers family activities and displays of heritage boats. North of the lake lies Ambleside, a charming town to stop for lunch before taking a walk through the surrounding countryside, such as a visit to Stock Ghyll Force through a beautiful, wooded area, whilst Ambleside Roman Fort is a must-visit for budding historians. Jump in the car and travel east to Kendal to taste the renowned mint cake, discover local history at Kendal Museum and spot the hilltop remains of Kendal Castle. Nearby, the National Trust's 14th-century Sizergh Castle and the Elizabethen Levens Halls are a short journey south to wander ornate rooms and formal gardens. Explore the quaint towns and spectacular countryside of the Lake District with a stay at Raybarrow.
