Approached via a tree-lined driveway and set within one acre of private grounds, this self-catering cottage offers an idyllic base for you and your loved ones to explore this stunning part of Ireland. Inside the sitting room, picture windows affords a constant connection with the countryside beyond, whilst the woodburning stove is the focal feature of the room, setting a cosy ambiance as you curl up on the sofa and delve into a good book or browse the channels of the TV to unwind. The garden has been wonderfully designed as an extension of the house itself, with a patio area to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining and a lawn area to meander, or pay a visit to the cottage owners, who are always on hand to offer advice on local attractions. Better acquaint yourself with your surroundings as you venture into the attractive seaside village of Fethard-on-Sea, where you will find a plethora of places to eat and drink, as well as shops to explore before heading further afield to find the local beaches and coves. Baginbun Beach is close by, where you can choose to walk along the shore, soak up the sunshine or take a refreshing dip in the clean waters, alternatively travel further along the peninsula towards Hook Lighthouse and stop off at the beaches of Patrick's Bay, Boyce's Bay and Sandeel Beach. Head in the other direction to uncover some historical landmarks including the remains of the 13th century, Tintern Abbey and Duncannon Fort, or marvel at the beauty of Colclough Walled Garden, a restored 1800s Georgian attraction. If you are feeling adventurous, take the ferry from the nearby village of Ballyhack to spend the afternoon in Waterford, the oldest city in Ireland, where you will find Reginald’s Tower, a circa-1003 fortification and the interesting Waterford Museum of Treasures, home to a collection of local archaeological finds. With so much to see and do, Glen Gable promises to be an outstanding retreat for the whole family.
