Get away from it all in this wonderful rural setting, however, there are many places to head off to during your holiday including the historic market town of Dorchester (1.5 miles) has plenty of independent shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants, and is known for its links to Thomas Hardy. You can visit Hardy s birthplace in the village of Higher Bockhampton (3.5 miles), or his home at Max Gate (3 miles). Other local attractions include Maiden Castle (3.5 miles), Jordan Hill Roman Temple (9.5 miles) and Clouds Hill, the former retreat of T E Lawrence (9.5 miles). You can also head to the coast with the popular resort of Weymouth nearby (11 miles), which features a sandy beach, traditional seaside amusements and a vibrant harbour. Weymouth is also home to the lifting Town Bridge, the Radipole Lake RSPB Reserve and the Nothe Fort museum. Set at the end of an unmade track amongst original farm workers cottages, this attractive cottage is accessed via three steps which lead into the porch. You can leave coats and boots in the hall, then head into the spacious, light and welcoming open plan lounge/kitchen/diner. With a vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, this living area is an ideal space to relax in. The lounge has plenty of seating, Smart TV/DVD and a wood burner, while the dining area is perfect for any family meal. The charming kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, washing machine and a fridge with an ice compartment. There is also a cosy double bedroom on the ground floor, where you will also find the bathroom, which is complete with a shower over the bath and a WC. A spiral staircase leads you up to a small gallery with a low beam and then into the twin bedroom. This bedroom has two 2 6 single beds and a low, sloping ceiling. To the front of the cottage there s a grassy area which is crossed by a public footpath. You can also relax in the large L shaped back garden which is laid to lawn with trees and shrubs and looks out over acres of fields. There s also a choice of outdoor furniture so you can sit back with a drink and enjoy the views.
