Padstow, with its culinary reputation that it thoroughly deserves, is minutes away. The narrow lanes all seem to gravitate towards the pretty harbour where the fishing boats off load the catch and where you can book a deep sea fishing trip along this stunning coastline. Rick Stein, the TV chef, has a culinary empire from a cookery school to a seafood restaurant and excellent chippy on the quayside. No 6, a favourite Padstow eatery owned by Paul Ainsworth the Michelin starred chef, is a must for fine dining.

Padstow is at the end of the Camel Trail, an 18-mile, flat, multi-use cycling, walking, running and horse riding trail that hugs the shoreline of the estuary that flows inland to the market town of Wadebridge and on to the historic town of Bodmin, which sits on the edge of the moors. Cycle hire is available in all towns and a great way to see this beautiful area. The stunning Trevone Bay, Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay, all wonderful Cornish golden arcs of sand, backed by dunes and beachside pubs serving local ales and food, are all within minutes of The Stables.

The golf club at Trevose, a course with a views, is also close by as are many other excellent courses. The coast road that the house sits upon leads all the way down towards Newquay and is dotted with coves and surfing beaches, all the way from Watergate Bay, home to Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, a beachside restaurant. Watersports are abundant in the area along with fine dining and beach culture, making this a great place to enjoy a family holiday in one of Cornwall’s most iconic locations. Beach 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
