The Mission House is a distinguished property, full of character and offering an ecclesiastic nod to its past with fabulous arched doorways that feature throughout. Set in the Weald on the magnificent Lydhurst Estate, abundant with footpaths through parkland, woods and rolling fields - the countryside is all yours to explore during your stay.
With rich colour tones, luxurious mattresses and a mixture of vintage, boutique and bespoke bathroom fittings, the five individually-designed, en-suite double bedrooms are every bit as unique as the building itself. This underfloor-heated holiday home is mostly laid out across the ground floor, including four of the five bedrooms - one sleeping four with additional full-length bunk beds - perfect for a family. An ornate wrought iron spiral staircase leads upstairs to the romantic master suite, with a four poster bed standing proudly in the centre and a deep double-end bath sitting under the window, offering fabulous views overlooking the estate below.
On the ground floor, the second master reveals a thoughtfully innovative layout; discrete touches mean it is fully wheelchair friendly, with wide doors, low super king bed and a wet room complete with sleek folding shower seat. A meandering path leads through the garden to the flat threshold, with a large front door opening into the sitting room and plenty of space to move around inside. What has been achieved here is testament to the careful design; an accessible self-catering cottage in West Sussex, without any compromise on the creative flair - truly a holiday home for all.
The heart of the house centres on the generous open-plan living space. The sitting room invites you to sink into the deep leather Chesterfields under a high vaulted ceiling, and the tall arched picture window and huge log burner in the equally impressive inglenook hold a perfect balance between grand and cosy. The adjacent modern country kitchen and dining room provide an intimate setting for dinner, finished with an extendable oak dining table and beautiful, ancient pew seating.
Outside, the large courtyard and shrub-lined garden lead out to orchards, a shared tennis court and communal games room, and walks across the estate to the nearby village of Warninglid and beyond. This is a perfect Sussex idyll in which to gather your family and friends to celebrate a special occasion or a memorable holiday.
