River Cottage is a superb self catering holiday cottage set close to the River Monnow, at the foot of the Black Mountains near Craswell in rural Herefordshire. The cottage offers an open plan living/dining room with a very efficient wood-burning stove and sofa and a sofa bed, a well equipped kitchen with oak flooring throughout plus a family bathroom.

Five steps take you up to the carpeted bedrooms, one double with ensuite shower room and one twin bedroom. Just a few minutes drive up the lane is White Hayward Farm and Restaurant where visitors are guaranteed a warm welcome and excellent food.

A light and airy kitchen fitted with an electric cooker, intergrated fridge, intergrated dishwasher and microwave oven. The living area features a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and is comfortably furnished with a sofa and sofa bed. Double doors open from the sitting area to a private patio with outdoor table and chairs, lawn and picnic area.

The double bedroom has a modern ensuite and is decorated and furnished to create a cosy ambience.

The twin bedroom is equipped with two small 3 ft single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers.

The Family Bathroom features a bath with shower over, hand basin and toilet.

River Cottage is set in private grounds on the River Monnow - with fishing licences from Wye & Usk Foundation. Please take care on the riverbanks and children need to be supervised at all times.

There is marvellous walking from the door up to The Black Mountains with The Black Hill, Hatterill Ridge, The Cats Back and Offa's Dyke. The Black Mountains are wild and remote with some superb walking routes, great for mountain bikers and for pony trekking. Visit Llantony Abbey with its' pub beneath, Capel-y-ffin, Abbey Dore. There are some lovely tucked away pubs - The Crown Inn in Longtown, The Bridge Inn at Michaelchurch Escley.

A visit to Hay-on-Wye is a must - why not take time for a wonderful drive through the highest road in Wales - whether just exploring or attending The Literary Festival at the end of May.
