Step out from the apartment onto the High Street where there is a wealth of independent shops – an excellent butchers and bakers just across the road plus a superb fishmongers and vegetable shop. For good restaurants try Dylan's on the beach a stunning art deco building designed by local architect and creator of Portmeirion, Clough William Ellis. The famous Cadwalladers ice cream and fish and chip shop close to the castle should not be overlooked!Criccieth FestivalThis has evolved over the years to become an important date in Wales' cultural calendar. Held in the middle of June it has a programme of music, literature and lectures. Coastal PathJoin the Coastal Path at the western end of town – it closely follows the clifftop before turning inwards passing the village of Llanystumdwy. Well worth visiting is the Lloyd George Museum. The path then becomes a wooded riverside walk back to Criccieth. Beaches There are 2 lovely beaches in Criccieth itself plus a wealth of others close by. Porthmadog's little known hamlet of Borth y Gest has many intimate little coves and sandy bays with stunning views across to Harlech. Black Rock sands is a huge expanse of beach which can be driven onto and is 2 miles from Porthmadog town centre. Caernarfon Castle and Victoria Dock Visit the huge imposing castle at Caernarfon built by the fearsome Edward I and marvel at the Medieval craftsmanship. Also at Caernarfon is the Victoria Dock with shops and cafes overlooking the marina. Bookworms with delight in Palas Prints one of Britain's best independent book shops which brilliantly combines English and Welsh language books - Curl up with a good read when you get back to this delightful apartment for two. Days away... Visit the hot spots of the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia...
