Escape to this exquisite location surrounded by spectacular scenery of lochs, mountains and waterfalls in the heart of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, and at the edge of Ben Lawer’s Nature Reserve.
Acharn Lodges are set in 30-acres for you to explore and enjoy, and are perfect for families, friends, couples and single guests. Seven of the properties are in the courtyard and offer comfortable, good quality accommodation with a choice of properties depending on your own requirements. Set back from the courtyard there are also two detached lodges Maple (UK5501) and Alder (UK5502) which are all on one level and ideal for the less mobile guests.
There is so much for guests to enjoy on the estate - have a game of tennis or basketball on the court, and the children’s playground has a picnic table where adults can relax and keep an eye on the kids. If you are an experienced fishermen there are three trout ponds where fly fishing with barbless hooks can be enjoyed on a catch and release basis. Salmon fishing is also available on the owner’s private stretch of the River Dochart and is by prior arrangement with the owner when available.
There are lovely walks from your doorstep, pack a picnic and stop at one of the picnic benches around the ponds and estate where you can relax and make the most of the spectacular scenery. There is an abundance of wildlife to spot, have your camera at the ready to snap red squirrels, deer, pine martens and so many wild birds including ospreys. In the winter, the hills are perfect for sledging or skiing on gentle slopes, and spring and summer brings longer evenings to enjoy the wild birds and flowers, and with very little light pollution, enjoy the stars in the night sky.
The attractive Highland village of Killin is within walking distance along a quiet pathway where you will find bars, cafes, bistros and restaurants, shops, a 9-hole golf course and the spectacular Falls Of Dochart. Killin plays host to events throughout the year including the Highland games and a fireworks display on New Years Eve.
This part of Scotland is steeped in history and legend. Acharn was once owned by the McNab Clan and there are many other historic sites and buildings to visit close by including Finlarig Castle.
If you enjoy the great outdoors this area provides walking, cycling and hill walking. Various water sports can be enjoyed on Loch Tay, with kayaking and white water rafting nearby, Highland safaris, or sample the ’water of life’ at a whisky distillery!
Pine Cottage (ref UK5503), Maple (ref UK5501), Alder (ref UK5502), Poplar (ref UK5504), Oak (ref UK5505), Beech (UK5506), Rowan (ref UK5507), Ash (ref UK5508) and Elm (ref UK5509) can be booked together to accommodate up to 34 guests. If you are wanting to plan a reunion or celebration then this is the ideal spot for you. By prior arrangement, there is a large rustic family party area with stone walls and wood burner, separate kitchen with a range cooker, enough crockery, cutlery, tables and chairs, cloakroom with toilet, utility area, a large barbecue in the courtyard and enough seating for up to 40 guests. Perfect if you want to plan and prepare a wedding or birthday celebratory meal, and also ideal for a work conferences. This area is located away from the main accommodation so you will not disturb those seeking a quiet time. This facility can be used free of charge when a group of 5 or more of the lodges are booked together, or if the all the lodges and cottages are booked together than a 20% discount is available. Supermarket deliveries can be planned and waiting for you on your arrival (by direct arrangement with the owner). Shops, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.
