Situated just on the edge of Hamstreet and therefore within easy walking distance of shops, a pub and a restaurant is Bryn Taff, delightfully converted into a stylish holiday base ideal for exploring the ’Garden of England’ and East Sussex countryside. Hamstreet is known as ‘The Gateway to the Marsh’ an area once awash with smuggling. Visit the Dungeness National Nature Reserve and RSPB Reserve, The Romney Marsh including Dungeness, is one of the most important wildlife sites in the world and is a crossroads for migrating birds. Three long distance footpaths pass through Hamstreet and you can follow the banks of the Military Canal or stroll through Hamstreet Woods. Both walking and cycling are very popular in the area, for sandy beaches, head to Dymchurch or Camber Sands, enjoy afternoon tea in Tenterden ’The Jewel of the Weald’, or the medieval town of Rye with its cobbled streets. For a touch of retail therapy visit McArthur Glen at Ashford and don’t forget your passport, in case you want to hop on a train and have lunch in Paris via the Eurostar. Beach 9½ miles.
