The charming small town of Midhurst, famous for polo at Cowdray Park is also a short drive, as are Billingshurst, Haslemere and Guildford. Goodwood, with its motor racing and horse racing, Fontwell races, West Dean Gardens, Parham House, The Weald, Downland Open Air Museum and the South Downs are all within easy driving distance, as is the cathedral city of Chichester with its extensive shopping and tea rooms, festival theatre and harbour tours. Alternatively, the town of Arundel with its famous castle and cathedral, plus the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust are both well worth a visit.
