One of Britain’s most traditional seaside resorts situated on the pretty Lincolnshire coast, it has bags of fun and excitement with plenty to see and do. The town is famous for its stretch of sandy beach with donkey rides in the summer, buzzing pier and well-maintained seafront, which is positively crammed with attractions for all the family, from crazy golf to go-karting, there really is something for everyone. The town centre is home to a great variety of shops, as well as the train station connecting Skegness to the Midlands.
If you fancy a little down time, then where the land meets the sea you will find the fabulous Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve, a haven for wildlife across all the seasons, and a tranquil place to walk and simply take in the view. The seal sanctuary at Natureland is popular with children keen to learn more about these fascinating creatures.
The poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson, was inspired by the wild beauty of the surrounding countryside, and the local landmark, Gunby Hall, that inspired his famous line ‘a haunt of ancient peace’, is well worth a visit. Keen walkers will find plenty of well signposted walks along the coast, or take a gentle stroll around the pleasant foreshore. The town really comes alive in the evening, with several clubs and plenty of seafront bars where you can relax with a drink and watch the world go by. There are a whole range of places to eat out, with restaurants catering for all tastes. Beach 100 yards. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.
