Cobble is a one-bedroom cottage with a kingsize bed and an open plan living/dining room/kitchen. There is a wood burner in the living area. The barn has unique features such as vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. In addition to the kingsize bed in the bedroom, the living area has a double sofa bed.
All the cottages have internal handmade doors, beautifully crafted handles, all wood sourced from the property’s own woodlands. The cottages are positioned just beyond the owners’ home and surrounded by 20 acres of peaceful private woodland and fields and are accessed via a ½ mile driveway up through the woods. Pheasants, hawks and buzzards may sometimes accompany your drive up through the woods and in the spring a carpet of bluebells covers the ancient woodland. The barns enjoy a delightful position overlooking the Glynn Valley and Lanhydrock Estate, and the barns and the immediate surrounding area were chosen as a film set for Ella’s Journey, screened in 2018. The countryside is undulating and lightly wooded and thought by some to be the most beautiful in the county. The situation is as idyllic as it is convenient, being central to everywhere in Cornwall, accessible to local amenities and out of the county without miles of winding lanes, but just distant enough from the outside world to be a quiet rural retreat.
These three stone barns are dated mid 1700’s and have been lovingly converted using elm and oak from the surrounding woods, and offer a rustic quirky and charming interior. Each barn is unique and full of interesting architectural features making the interiors appealing, and offers a lovely warm welcoming ambience. Surrounded by pleasantly landscaped gardens and wonderful valley views from their own patios, they are ideal for couples looking for a perfect romantic hideaway and for families seeking a secluded spot away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Why not have a family get together and occupy all three cottages? Just a 3-minute drive will take you to the A30 making exploring the whole of Cornwall very accessible. A 10-minute walk down the drive and along a country lane will take you to Cardinham Woods, with its award-winning café, cycle trails and woodland walks, with stunning view points along the way. The woods are extremely popular with people of all ages and abilities, whether you enjoy a leisurely stroll or bike ride with your children; or for the more energetic, a long hike, or for the hardy mountain biker, the 12k Bodmin Beast Cycle Trail!
Beaches of both the north and south coasts are about 15 miles away, some popular and offering fishing, sailing and surfing, others small and secluded; the coastal path is a continuous drama of cliff and sea and sky. There is excellent walking and cycling in the surrounding area, and the Longdowns bridleway runs past the barns. Restormel Castle and Lostwithiel are both 4 miles away, and Bodmin, 3 miles, has shops, cycle hire, swimming pool, sports centre, inns, restaurants and golf. Bodmin Steam Railway can be heard in the distance within the valley and riding is available locally. Wadebridge and the Camel Trail are also a few miles away.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests.
