Waedog Bach, Rhos-Y-Gwaliau Near Bala

Snowdonia. Sleeps up to 2

A wonderful cottage attached to the owner’s own Grade II listed farmhouse, which dates back to the 16th century, situated on their working sheep and beef farm, in the pretty rural hamlet of Rhos-y-Gwaliau, just two miles from the popular market town of Bala. Excellently-placed for touring the stunning Snowdonia National Park, this lovely cottage is perfect for a couple who wish to experience authentic country life at a true rural retreat. The property has been completely renovated to a beautiful standard, providing contemporary accommodation, whilst still retaining plenty of wonderful character features, such as sash windows, exposed stone lintels and deep sills. This pretty cottage exudes a warm Welsh welcome, and the well-equipped open plan living area boasts a modern kitchen, an intimate dining area and sitting area with a comfy sofa and underfloor heating, ensuring a cosy temperature is maintained. Upstairs the spacious double bedroom offers oak furniture and splendid views of the countryside, whilst the beautifully-styled bathroom is complemented by nice little touches such as spotlighting, a double shower and a separate double-ended bath, perfect for a pampering soak at the end of a busy day exploring. Outside, the off road parking area is covered with crushed purple slate, which leads round to the rear of the cottage, creating a raised courtyard area with furniture, a lovely little hideaway, ideal for a morning cup of coffee or a glass of fizz in the evening – just throw a few logs onto the firepit and swap stories long into the night. There are numerous walks from the doorstep, as well as several outdoor activity centres within easy reach, including the renowned National White Water Centre, offering sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. Visit Bala and sample the fine selection of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and there’s also a golf course to practice your swing and mountain bike trails for keen cyclists in your party. Alternatively, for a more leisurely pastime, take a trip on the Bala Lake Steam Railway, or spend a day exploring Barmouth or Harlech, both with superb sandy beaches. Further afield great days out can be had at Llangollen and Chirk Castles, whilst the breathtakingly-beautiful Lake Vyrnwy is also well worth a visit. This delightful cottage is an ideal retreat to be enjoyed all year round, equally perfect for an exciting holiday or relaxing romantic getaway.
