The Granary, Wetwang

East Riding of Yorkshire. Sleeps up to 4

A unique conversion of an old granary, in the quiet Wolds village of Wetwang, six miles from the market town of Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire. This charming detached cottage is ideally placed for exploring both the lovely rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds, the numerous nearby stately homes and the seaside resorts of Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough. With upside down accommodation, there is an open plan living area on the first floor, which incorporates a modern kitchen with breakfast bar and a comfortable sitting area. The beautiful beams have been retained in this room, along with the original winching and lifting gear from the granary, a wonderful feature, whilst the windows overlook the beautiful scenery. Downstairs are the two cosy bedrooms, both with beamed ceilings and the family bathroom. Outside there is a lovely private courtyard where you can sit and relax with a refreshing drink whilst planning activities for the rest of your holiday. A few minutesÂ’ walk brings you to one of the two local pubs and an excellent fish and chip shop. The surrounding area has superb walking and cycling opportunities, with peaceful country lanes, public footpaths and cycle routes. Within a short drive are the picturesque market towns of Driffield, Pocklington, Beverley and Malton, all with a rich array of independent shops, restaurants and weekly market days, or you may wish to visit Sledmere House, which is a Grade I listed Georgian country house and Burton Agnes Hall, an Elizabethan manor house, with their fabulous gardens. Children of all ages will enjoy a day at the seaside in Bridlington, with its long sandy beaches, fine promenades and pretty harbour. A well-placed holiday home for an enjoyable and varied break.
