Sensitive refurbishment has revived a house that was nearly derelict years ago; now it’s fit for a country magazine shoot, where you can gather the group in the dining room to tuck into your culinary creation and raise a toast to your retreat. When you’re ready to explore, Laugharne is a must visit as it was once the hometown of famous poet Dylan Thomas. Venture out into the nearby seaside village of Llansteffan where you can stock up on all your self-catering essentials or simply enjoy a well-earned break from the kitchen at The Castle Inn. The village is also home to Llansteffan Beach, the perfect placer for you and your dog to roam while taking in the sea air and the views across the River Towy; follow the riverbank to discover the impressive 12th-century ruins of Llansteffan Castle which overlooks Bae Caerfyrddin. Carmarthen claims to being one of, if not the oldest town in Wales, can be reached just a scenic drive from the farmhouse, and is home to an array of amenities for a lovely day out, but if you are looking for more hustle and bustle, the city of Swansea is further afield and reachable by car. Although Ardderfin is a homely escape that you won’t want to leave, the property is situated almost halfway between Pembrokeshire and The Gower which offer a variety of local attractions for the perfect family days out, including Pembrey Country Park, Pendine Sands, Amroth , Saundersfoot, Tenby, The Gower, Llandeilo, Cardigan, Narberth, just to mention a few.
