Vancouver in Canada was named after a British naval captain - George Vancouver, born in Kings Lynn. Vancouver was best known as a surveyor, navigator and charted the Pacific Northwest coastline in San Diego, California up to Ancourage, Alaska. Captain George Vancouver tribute can be seen from the upstairs window! The plinth of which the statue sits on originated from the west coast of Canada and sits pride of place along the Kings Lynn Quay front since 2000.

This whole area is simply packed with history with the Sandringham, Houghton and Holkham estates, Castle Rising, Castle Acre and Peckover House all within easy reach. Coastal lovers will also soon find themselves amidst wide sandy beaches, stripey cliffs, clay, and salt marshes and picturesque quays, creeks and harbours. You can even take a fishing trip almost from the door of Vancouver View,or visit Kings Lynn’s own Gin Distillery for a tour or make your own gin! Just lovely.
