Porthcothan Bay, Porthcothan

Cornwall. Sleeps up to 10

Throw open the doors and breathe in the fresh coastal breeze of the Cornish coast in this elegant seaside property, ideally situated just ten minutes from the sandy dunes of Porthcothan Bay.  Light, airy space, oak floors and sunny balconies await up to ten guests for a beach retreat in a protected Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

A lovely entrance hall invites you in with oak stairs leading to the first floor.  Take a perch on the breakfast island in the expansive open plan kitchen dining area.  With American style fridge/freezer, large range cooker and Smeg oven you will have all you need to cater in this light and airy space which is perfect for socialising whilst prepping meals or meandering from counters to dining table then through the patio doors to the panoramic views of countryside and sea of the terrace.  Upstairs a lounge with gas wood-burning stove, comfy sofas and French doors leading to balcony is an adaptable space for sunny days looking out to the view, or cosy movie nights by the fire.

The sleeping accommodation is handily spread across the ground and first floor giving easy access for those who require it.  A large king size bedroom benefits from patio doors allowing you to fling open and take in the morning air as you sip a Lavazza coffee from the machine in the comfort of your bed.  A twin room shares a bathroom with the double, with a walk-in shower and all-important underfloor heating for warming toes in colder months.

Upstairs a king size bedroom with en-suite and dressing room enjoys wonderful views as does an additional king size room with shared shower room, completing the accommodation.

Enjoy a barbeque meal cooked over coals out on the decking, a perfect spot for an al fresco meal in the summer months, whilst a private garden and driveway with plenty of parking means security and privacy are a priority.

With bed linen and towels included a utility room with washing machine, dryer and sinks and a ground floor shower for showering off sandy feet, everything you need is provided, allowing you and your guests to sit back and enjoy the spectacular location with clifftop walks, sandy dunes and bustling seaside towns just moments from your door.

Set in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty there is much to explore in the local area.  Porthcothan Bay has endless golden sands to explore and dunes to run through, whilst Trevalga offers an ideal space to start a pretty coastal cliff path walk, with seal spotting aplenty!

Just three miles away the Trevose Golf club offers a championship 18-hole course for you to challenge yourself to a round, whilst tennis courts will keep everyone happy and active.

On the North coast a visit to the bustling seaside town of Padstow has so much to offer.  Try your hand at crabbing in the harbour, grab yourself a local pasty for lunch or take a boat trip over to nearby Rock.  We recommend a visit to the fascinating National Lobster Hatchery to observe the lifecycle of marine lobsters, ran by local marine experts.  Padstow is also home to a number of delicious Rick Stein eateries from grab and go fish and chips to the flagship Seafood Restaurant serving a selection of fresh from the ocean dishes from scallops, moules, lobster and more.

With its enviable coast Cornwall has a plethora of beaches to choose from where crystal-clear waves await your enjoyment with swimming, paddleboarding, water-skiing and boat rides all available.  As the surfing mecca of the UK, Newquay is home to Britain’s premiere surfing spot, Fistral Beach.  World renowned it plays host to the Boardmasters International Surf Competition each year, whilst out of the water Fistral and nearby Watergate Bay are the place to be for the annual five-day music festival, Boardmasters.

A gateway to the wild beauty of Cornwall, there are plenty of local beaches and beauty spots.  Crantoch Beach is a must see with its epic sand dunes, perfect for exploring, if you venture onto the footpaths to Polly Joke Beach you might even spot some local seals sunning themselves on the secluded shore.  Watergate Bay offers two miles of golden sand and a more peaceful environment whilst a short drive will take you to the perfect rock-pooling spot at Porth Beach.  Make sure you head out on the narrow footbridge to Porth Island for stunning views of the Cornish coastline. Or take a visit to nearby National-Trust owned Trerice, a charming Elizabethan manor with picture perfect gardens, perched just outside of Newquay

On the South coast a trip to The Eden Project in St. Austell is only a forty-minute drive, a perfect spot for families where you can walk amongst the dramatic tropical biomes and experience the sights and smells of the rainforest.    There are fascinating displays on climate and sustainability and a large restaurant and gift shop to keep the kids fed and happy!

Why not take a day trip to St. Ives for a little local culture and visit the Cornish home of the Tate Gallery to check out exhibits of both famous and local artists and browse the local artisan shops.
