About
Charming Plas Efailnewydd is a grand country house ideal for a celebration, friends or family gathering or even an intimate wedding reception. For many years the house was successfully run by the owners as a 5-star boutique hotel, so you can expect lots of luxurious touches including a show-stopping kitchen designed by a Michelin-starred chef. Sleeping up to 20 guests in 10 en-suite bedrooms and with 5 acres of secluded gardens, there's a high level of privacy and space here. When it comes to socialising you're spoilt for choice with special places from the drawing room with its self-playing piano, to the verandah where you can enjoy afternoon tea.
The space
This vast house is set out over the ground, first and second floors.

Gather together in the large opulent drawing room where there's an open fireplace to provide that cosy touch on chilly days, whilst the baby grand Chappell piano features the ability to play itself. The ample seating includes four sumptuous sofas, while pretty French doors lead out to the garden.

There's also a library and TV room, with another open fireplace, sofas and armchairs, as well as a Smart TV/DVD player. In the bookcases, you can take your pick from a large selection of books, from classics to cookery books, something to help keep everyone entertained.

If you have keen cooks in your party, or you're planning to hire a private chef, the kitchen is a dream. Designed by a Michelin-starred chef, it is exceptionally well-equipped and includes a Range cooker with three electric ovens, a grill and a 5-plate induction top, a microwave, food processors, ice cream machine, ice-making machine, two full height fridges and two freezers. There's also a kitchen table for informal dining, ideal for the kids, or where up to 10 of you can sit and join in with the conversation as meals are being prepared.

From the kitchen, shuttered doors lead to the formal dining room where the huge dining table seats 20 people easily, while the impressive floor-to-ceiling drinks fridge will keep all your beer and wine suitably chilled.

There's also plenty of space to hang coats at the front and back doors, as well as a boot room and utility area with underfloor heating (same as in the kitchen) that includes a shower room and a WC. Ideal for those coming in from time in the countryside or on the beach.

All 10 bedrooms are on the first or second floors and each is either a twin room (with zip-link beds) or a double room (with a standard, king-size or queen-size bed). All bedrooms have the convenience of an en-suite bathroom with a bath and power shower, plus wardrobe space, a TV and delightful garden views.

Room 2 (a standard double bedroom) also has a double sofa bed and Room 8 (a twin room) is a suite with a separate sitting room with a single sofa bed. There is also one single fold-up bed available to use. Together, these additional beds offer flexibility, ideal if you're staying with children.

Outside there are 5 acres of stunning, secluded gardens to call your own. Step out from the kitchen or dining room straight into the courtyard garden where there is a barbecue area and a pond with a fountain. Meanwhile, a wisteria-clad verandah wraps around the house and is perfect for relaxing in the shade.

Throughout the year there is always something to see from the bluebells that carpet the woods in springtime to the rich colours of the Japanese maples in the autumn. At the front of the house, there is a row of beech trees that leads to a gate and a babbling stream beyond, perfect if you want a peaceful stroll.
Guest access
The owners live 100 yards away from the house and will greet you on arrival and show you around. They are also on hand if you should have any queries during your stay. There is parking for up to 15 cars, as well as parking for kitchen staff if you are planning to hire a caterer.
