Cwm yr Eglwys Cwm yr Eglwys has its very own micro climate, renowned for being a few degrees hotter and drier compared to other parts of the Pembrokeshire coast. The bathing is safe and there is a slipway for launching small boats. A stream runs through the middle of the beach and there are lots of rock pools - clamber over the rocks at the west end of the beach to discover a secret 'low tide' beach. Rock Fishing Ceibwr Cove and Bird Watching at Newport BayThe rocks on the southern side of Ceibwr Cove are excellent for float fishing and spinning. Try your luck. Walk around Dinas Island part of the Long Distance TrailWalk around the spectacular headland to the picturesque beach Pwllgwaelod before then returning via the pleasant country lane having circumnavigated a National Trust sheep farm run by the pioneering and professional Perkins family. Pets welcome on leads (this is sheep country). Old Sailors Inn (formerly Sailors Safety), PwllgwaelodDo visit this 500 year old inn overlooking Pwllgwaelod beach serving real ales and good food. Sea food and shell fish are a speciality. Eat in the small dining room (book to avoid disappointment) overlooking the garden and beach or in the large garden just a few yards from the beach. The coastal path around Dinas Island with magnificent coastal views can be joined here. Dyffryn Fernant GardenDyffryn Fernant garden sits in 6 acres of rugged countryside and incorporates a wide range of planting including a bog garden, ornamental grass field, lots of colour around the house, an exotically planted courtyard and a fernery. Dyffryn Fernant is also one of the Great Gardens of West Wales. FishguardThis small market town has independent shops, tea and coffee houses, several pubs, a leisure centre with swimming pool and a small cinema.A Farmers Market is held in the Town Hall every Saturday morning with lots of lovely local goodies to purchase. Also in the town hall is the 'Last Invasion of Britain Tapestry' - sewn by local needle workers to celebrate the centenary of this historic event. Gwaun ValleyThe Gwaun Valley, in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, runs inland from Lower Town Fishguard towards The Preseli Hills and has a unique atmosphere, abundant wildlife and prehistoric sitesThe Gwaun Valley Brewery is a family-run brewery producing a variety of different real ales. Enjoy a pint of the good stuff with beautiful views of the Preseli Hills and on brewing day you can see the brewers at work. Take a short drive into the Gwaun Valley to The Dyffryn Arms - known locally as Bessie's, after the namesake landlady who serves real ale from a jug in what is basically her licensed front room.
