Comfortable well equipped cottage, located at the end of the Manifold Valley, mid way between the market towns of Ashbourne and Leek. The cottage is situated in a quiet cul de sac on the edge of the village and benefits from an enclosed rear garden with patio furniture and a private drive providing off road parking for two vehicles. It is heated by oil fired central heating. Heating, electricity, bedding and towels are included in the price, as is Wifi. Owner contact number 01780 470593.
The cottage is located in a superb walking and cycling area and is an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions in the area. The Manifold Trail which is a surfaced track suitable for both walking and cycling runs for 8.5 miles between Waterhouses and Hulme End. Other cycle and walking trails within the area include the Tissington, High Peak and Monsal Trails. Lovely walks are available along the many miles of footpaths and lanes within the surrounding area and the network of surfaced trails and lanes within the area make the cottage an ideal base for walking all year round. Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud and the pretty village of Ilam are less than a 15 minute drive away.
Historic houses and gardens within the area include Chatsworth House with its farmyard, adventure playground and the many events held there throughout the year; Haddon Hall, Tissington Hall (restricted opening) and various National Trust properties including Sudbury Hall with its museum of childhood, Calke Abbey, Kedleston Hall and Biddulph Grange Gardens.
Carsington Water which is within easy travelling distance of the cottage offers water sports, sailing, cycle hire, fishing, a children's play area and a bird watching centre with several hides, or you can just walk around the reservoir (a full circuit is around 8.5 miles). Two miles north of Leek is Rudyard Lake with it's miniature railway and activities on offer include walking, fishing and boating. Tittesworth reservoir, also near Leek, offers walks and water sports. For the more adventurous, visit Wild Park Derbyshire, between Ashbourne and Derby for paint balling, laser tag, quad biking and archery.
The pretty market towns of Bakewell, Ashbourne, Leek & Buxton (renowned for its spa water and Opera House) are all well worth a visit and easily accessible from the cottage.
Other attractions within the area include Gulliver’s Kingdom & the Heights of Abraham at Matlock; Poole’s country park, caverns and Go Ape at Buxton; Alton Towers and Splash Landings indoor pool (10 minute drive), The Peak Wildlife Park (10 minute drive); Waterworld at Stoke; Crich tramway museum and the Churnet Valley Railway. The National Memorial Arboretum, Tamworth Snow dome and Drayton Manor Theme Park are all within travelling distance of the cottage.
All this and more is close to the cottage to keep you busy for the whole period of your holiday, or you can just relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of this beautiful part of England.
There is a separate garage for the storage of bikes and this also contains a selection of bikes which are available for guests to use. There is also a cycle hire centre in the village, a village shop, pub and café. Smoking is not permitted inside the cottage. Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome by prior arrangement but we politely ask that they are kept downstairs, off the furniture and not left unattended in the cottage.
Check in is currently contactless due to Covid. We are also carrying out extra deep cleaning and disinfection of high risk areas as the safety of our guests is extremely important to us.

Located in Stoke-on-Trent, this cottage is in a rural area and near theme parks. Whiston Hall Golf Club and Skyride are worth checking out if an activity is on the agenda, while those looking for area attractions can visit Alton Towers and Peak Wildlife Park. Traveling with kids? Consider Edward and Vintage, or check out an event or a game at Harrison Park. Swimming offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with hiking and cycling nearby.
