This Stunning conversion of the extensive Wern-y-Cwm Farm Dairy, piggery and cow sheds creates a spacious 6 bedroom home. Set in 30 acres of stunning farmland managed using organic methods and set high on the edges of the Skirrid Mountain with far reaching views yet only 7 minutes drive from Abergavenny.

The spacious open plan kitchen/dining room is well fitted out to cater for family meals around a large dinning table (seats 12). An extra little table may be set for 4 children, if the house is booked to maximum capacity (16).

A double faced wood burning stove leads into the sitting room/TV room. With plenty of space for the whole group to join conversations around the fire, or play family games found in the large cupboard. A smart TV is set at the far end of the room for cosy films or to keep the children entertained as their parents continue their conversations over a long meal next door.

With eclectic décor featuring up-cycled and carefully restored and re-upholstered furniture, this eco-heated property has been restored and extended sympathetically to retain the character of the buildings.

The 6 double or twin bedrooms sleep up to 12 in comfort, with the option of adding 4 extra small guests on pull-out or z-beds for children.

The house has a large enclosed walled garden formed from the previous cattle yard to the front, with outdoor seating for up to 16 people. It has the great advantage of the "Captains Cave", a covered open barn with a full sized table tennis table, exercise bike, treadmill, fridge, BBQ, fire pit service and hot tub (wood and hot tub at an additional charge). Parents can enjoy sitting outside in confidence that their children or dogs are safely enclosed.

To the rear of the house is a lawned area, and the farm vegetable garden (with shared access for the gardening team) merging into a wooden area and access into the fields on up to the mountain top. This area is ideal for older children or adults to explore, enjoy playing and relaxing.

Two of the bedroom suites have private outdoor terraces and seating areas, which are great for grandparents or work colleagues who need a little private time during the stay.

Wern-Y-Cwm Farm is a huge historic farmstead dating from the 16th century. It was the home of Captain Thomas James, who sailed to discover the North West Passage in the reign of King Charles I, funded by the Bristol Society of Merchant Venturers. It remains a private home but has been converted into well spread out holiday lets , sporting or business retreat centre accommodation around the cathedral sized barn. Set in 30 acres of stunning farmland bordering the Skirrid Mountain National Park, the fields and hedgerows are teaming with wildflowers and wildlife.

Cook with herbs from the abundant garden, or try out some of the home grown veg (upon request), enjoy a good game of table tennis, relax on the swing or soak stress away in the hot tub (suitable for up to 6, by requests at additional charge). It is a short walk through the fields to reach the mountain - you can be on top of the world with views over six counties in 35 minutes.

If of interest we can send you links to numerous amazing local food producers, and we offer an electric car charging point (by pre-booking), so that you may enjoy a truly low carbon holiday, business or sporting retreat.

Located in Abergavenny, this farm stay is in a rural area and in the mountains. Brecon Beacons National Park and Clytha Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Oldfield Forge and Battlelands Paintball. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
