A four bedroom detached cottage in the hamlet of Swythamley in the Peak District, this property is full of character and charm, and featured on the popular UK TV show ‘Homes Under The Hammer'. Dating from 1904, the house has a sitting room with open fire, leaded windows, tiled floors, a sun room and a large garden with lovely views of the Staffordshire countryside. The cottage has been expertly renovated, and offers families, friends or couples a chance to relax in style and enjoy this wonderful part of the country. Note: The owners require a refundable Good Housekeeping bond of £100 to be sent to them by cheque.

Town: The farming community of Swythamley sits close to the River Dane, on the Staffordshire side of the river yet still in the beautiful area know as The Peak District. Local Swythamley Hall, originally a hunting lodge belonging to Abbey of Dieulacres, stands in fine parkland. The area has much historic significance – close by is Gun Hill, where Cromwell is believed to have located his canon aimed at the town of Leek. On the edge above Swythamley there is a famous landmark - the Hanging Stone, with a fine view over the surrounding countryside. There is fine walking and climbing on The Roaches, and many lovely cycle trails in the area. Alton Towers, Leek, Buxton and Ashbourne are all within easy reach.

Located in Macclesfield, this cottage is in a rural area. Brindley Mill and Foxlowe Arts Centre are cultural highlights, and some of the area's attractions include Mad-Renaline Activities and Biddulph Grange Garden. Traveling with kids? Consider Peak Wildlife Park and Moorcroft Heritage Visitor Centre.
