Royal Troon Arts & Crafts Period Historic Home Golf Beach, Troon

Ayrshire. Sleeps up to 6

This sumptuous period property has four poster canopy beds in the master and second bedrooms. Perfect for golfers, a romantic getaway, family and business trips. The accommodation is of a very high standard and the apartment forms the entire first floor of a large and unique property dating from 1904. Renovated in keeping with the Arts & Crafts period, features include original stained glass and wood panelling. The perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens and surrounding area.

This charming house was built in 1904 by a wealthy local family in the Arts & Crafts style (after Victorian but before Art Deco). I have kept the original features and updated the apartment to modern standards. There are beautiful stained glass windows, wood panelling and other original features.

There is a large hallway on entering the property, with plenty of room for golfing equipment. Heading upstairs, you will come to three stained glass windows overlooking the gardens and leading the main hall. Here you'll find the entrances to the living and dining rooms, master and second bedroom, family bathroom and kitchen.

The living/dining room is very large and has windows overlooking the meadow. There is comfortable seating for 7 around the fireplace and 8 at the dining room table.

The master bedroom has a four poster king size bed and a double sofa bed. There's a comfortable seating area and original Arts & Crafts fireplace. This is a light room with 3 windows overlooking the garden, trees and mansion houses. This room has a large modern ensuite shower room with the original sink from 1904 still in place.

The second bedroom has a superking bed which converts to 2 single beds and also a single four poster bed with curtains and canopy.

There is a family bathroom with full bath and wonderful original stained glass sunset window.

The well equipped kitchen has everything needed for your stay including fridge, freezer, microwave, gas hob, electric oven, toaster and kettle.

The house is child friendly and has a crib, travel cot, high chair, selection of games and children's books. Other equipment is available on request.

The house is also pet friendly and you are welcome to bring your pets. There are water and food bowls, dog towels and a dog bed provided. We may charge a small extra cleaning fee for pets.

Lastly, there is a wonderful large garden with the property. There are 3 seating areas with benches and a table and chairs for 8 people to eat outside. There is a barbecue area too.

Location -
The apartment is on one of the most prestigious streets in Troon. It overlooks Bentinck Crescent, a street of Arts & Crafts era mansion houses which sit around a beautiful, very large wildflower meadow. The apartment is one street back from the beach (a 2 minute walk away), a 2 minute walk from Royal Troon Golf Club and a 10 minute walk from Portland Golf Club, the train station with links to Glasgow, Ayr and Edinburgh and a 10 minute walk into town for restaurants, bars, cafes etc.

The neighbourhood is quite exclusive and is comprised of large family homes. There are 2 hotels within 5 minutes walk, both serving high quality food.

Troon is a haven for outdoor activities. There's outdoor swimming, kayaking and kite surfing on the beach and a coastal rowing club which welcomes visitors. There's a fantastic marina for sailing. There are several golf courses in Troon and lots more in the surrounding areas. There are wonderful walks, with long distance pathways starting 5 minutes walk from the house along with long distance off road cycle paths. There is a community woodland with picturesque walks which links up to the longer historic Smugglers Trail.

Getting around -
There is on and off street parking at the apartment. It's a 10 minute walk to the train station or take your car and park there for free. There's a bus stop 2 minutes walk from the house. The train goes to Prestwick and Ayr to the South, Kilmarnock to the East and Glasgow to the North (40 minutes journey). There are twice daily direct trains to Edinburgh or you can take one of the regular half hourly trains to Glasgow and change there for Edinburgh and other areas of Scotland. It's easy to get around the area by bike too, with lots of off road cycle paths.

Located in Troon, this apartment is next to a golf course and near the beach. Kilwinning Abbey Tower and St. John's Tower are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Royal Troon Golf Club and Prestwick Golf Club. Traveling with kids? Consider Treasure Trails and TryKiteSurfing. Be sure to check out the area's animals with activities such as game walks and birdwatching.
