Historic Cottage in a Traditional Mill Village, Cromford

Peak District. Sleeps up to 6

Located in Cromford near Matlock in the Peak District, the cottage dates from 1765 and offers a relaxing and tranquil holiday setting away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Steeped in history and part of the Derwent Valley world heritage site this beautiful cottage was once a local lead miners home. It became known as Tinsmiths Cottage because later occupants made pots and pans for the village.

Please note: A full refund will be given if guests are prevented from taking their holiday due to Covid restrictions. Last minute short stays are welcome.

The cottage accommodates up to 6 people, has a spacious oak beamed lounge, dining room, two toilets and well equipped kitchen.

The ground floor houses the kitchen and dining room with a large table and six chairs, and a highchair for those who require it. You will find the shower room with downstairs toilet leading off this room. Up the gentle staircase the large family bedroom, with its double and two single beds, is just right for a family where the children prefer to share a room. The double bedroom is great for those who want more privacy or just a cosier room. Both rooms have wardrobes and chests of drawers so that guests can feel at home during their stay. There is a toilet with a sink on this floor, too. The comfortable lounge has two settees and a large armchair providing plenty of seating for everyone, with a coffee table, a TV, a DVD player and a selection of family films. Books and board games are available during normal (non-pandemic) stays.

Located in Matlock, this cottage is in the city center and on a river. Peak District National Park and Matlock Parks Country Park reflect the area's natural beauty and area attractions include Gulliver's Kingdom and Crich Tramway Village. Consider Blackbrook House for a night out or Ecclesbourne Valley Railway if you're traveling with kids. Fishing offers a great chance to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with cycling and rock climbing nearby.
