The Byre @ Camp Douglas is a lovely and inviting barn conversion set around a courtyard and boasting picturesque views over Loch Ken. Furnished and beautifully decorated it is a large, bright and airy house with lots of space for all the family to enjoy. On the ground floor there is a fully fitted kitchen which has all the modern appliances you would need and the advantage of space for the large dining table so the cook need not miss out on all the fun. The bright and airy lounge has lovely views over Loch Ken and for the chillier evenings a large gas fired wood burning stove. Upstairs the three bedrooms are spacious, the master with an en-suite bathroom and there is a modern family bathroom.
Whilst The Byre @ Camp Douglas shares a communal courtyard to the front there is a private and fully enclosed rear garden with a summerhouse – the perfect place to sit and watch the sun go down over Loch Ken. The Byre @ Camp Douglas is set in a quiet countryside location which makes the most of the views yet is only a 5 minute drive from the small market town of Castle Douglas with its array of small unique shops selling local produce and quality gifts, some excellent restaurants and larger supermarket shopping.
If you want to explore more of this beautiful area then you couldn’t be better placed than at The Byre @ Camp Douglas as attractions are plentiful, from beautiful sandy beaches to dramatic cliff tops. With sailing, swimming, horse riding, fishing, golf and water sports all close by, there is something for everyone. On your doorstep is the Red Kite Feeding Station where the red kites are fed daily at 2pm, it really is a joy to watch. There are many beautiful gardens to visit including National Trust Threave Garden. Close to the Galloway Forest Park, home to the first Dark Sky Park in Europe, and central to five of the 7Stanes, at Kirroughtree Forest and Dalbeattie Forest, it is a popular location for cyclists and mountain bikers. Kirroughtree has some of the best technical single track mountain bike trails in Scotland. Beach 16 miles. Pub and restaurant 2¾ miles.
