Comfortable Shepherd's House In Beautiful Scenic surroundings. Views for miles, Durness

Renovated but retaining its original character, the cottage is compact, well maintained and comfortably furnished. Located only 11 miles from the small crofting village of Durness, this unspoilt corner of Scotland offers a wide range of activities. This is golden eagle and red deer territory and there are more often than not opportunities to spot some of the areas rare and varied wildlife from outside the front door of the house. Currently undergone an extension which has enlarged the kitchen, another utility room and a downstairs room with sofabed. Easy access to wooden deck outside.Parking outside also available.
The bathroom which has a shower, basin and toilet is downstairs . Hot water is heated with an immersion heater. The floor is tiled. It also has underfloor heating. There is a heated towel rail in there.
There is also another sitting room with a electric fire and free sat television . Several board games are in the wooden trunk. There is a futon in this room. There are many books. There is also a pull out ZBed.
Upstairs there is a landing There are two attic bedrooms , one with two single beds and another with a 5 foot bed king size bed. Both rooms have hanging spaces for clothes. Large quantities of books line the shelves in the bedrooms.
Dormer windows look out over the hills .
The hot water tank is in a cupboard in the twin bedroom. Upstairs all the rooms are carpeted.
Downstairs in the first sitting room with the French doors there are plenty of coat hooks and shelves for boots and shoes. There is a sofa bed in this room.
There is a wheel barrow for collecting firewood in the byre along the road.
In the utility room there is a large fridge freezer , a washing machine and a tumble drier.
In the large extended kitchen there is an oven, dishwasher, microwave, larder fridge. Cutlery and crockery also. There is a toaster and coffee machine .
There is a breakfast bar to catch more views. The floor in the kitchen area is tiled . There is also underfloor heating in this area.
Also in the room there is a clear view log burning stove which provides excellent heat. There is a dining room table which folds out to accommodate eight persons, and chairs. Several easy chairs are in the room too.
We have a large collection of whisky boxes on display . All empty but do feel free to add to this if you want . All the downstairs floors are wooden painted floors.
The rooms are heated with either the log fires or oil heaters which have got timers . There are fan heaters as well. Electricity is charged for at the end of your stay according to the units used. Meter readings are read at the beginning and end of your stay. It works out at 20p per unit . This will be taken off the deposit plus any damages . The remainder will be returned to you.
The meter cupboard is at the bottom of the stairs in a box at ceiling level.
Under floor heating is expensive but you choose what heat you want.
Please remember to switch off immersion and heaters when you leave.
There are two grocery stores in Durness. Petrol is also available 24hrs at the Spar shop. Newspapers do not arrive until 11 am on the post bus.
There are also food stores in Kinlockbervie. The London Stores provides a huge amount from a small shop. More stores have food and general DIY.


Located in Lairg, this cottage is in a rural area and on a river. John Lennon Memorial Garden is a local attraction and the area's natural beauty can be seen at Loch Inchard and Durness Beach.
