Should you enjoy a coastal walk, you can walk the length of the bay from Yaverland along the seaside revetment, all the way to the popular neighbouring town of Shanklin. If you like to learn about the history of a place, then the Isle of Wight has pre-historic monuments, Roman villas and military history a-plenty! There are a range of beautiful historic houses and gardens open to the public too. Don’t forget the Botanic Gardens with their own micro-climate nearby in Ventnor!
If you are keen on an active holiday, Sandown Bay is hugely popular with watersports, and you’ll certainly see people paddle boarding, surfing, catamaran and dingy sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing, depending on the weather.
