The bustling village of St Boswells (3.5 miles) has several shops, a hotel, Bookshop, bistro, fishing tackle and country wear, garden centre, nine hole riverside golf course and the remains of Dryburgh Abbey. This area is a great base for walkers and cyclists where you can explore both the Borders Abbey Way and St Cuthbert s Way. Less than 5 miles away is Scott s View a favourite spot of the novelist Walter Scott, which offers a stunning view of The Eildon Hills. The historic town of Melrose (8 miles) features the ruins of Melrose Abbey, the Priorwood orchard and the walled Harmony Gardens. The home of rugby sevens, Melrose is also host of the Melrose Sevens tournament. The historic town of Kelso (7 miles) visit beautiful Floors Castle, the 12th century abbey and Kelso Racecourse. The championship golf course at Roxburghe is also nearby (11.5 miles). Attractive 19th century Dower House, as you arrive you will instantly fall in love with the charm of this Country House. As you come through the front door there is a lobby which leads into an attractive, spacious hallway. Off the hallway you will find the informal lounge with comfy recliner seating and wall mounted Smart TV, enjoy a good film or just relax, this room has lovely views over the open countryside. There is a formal dining room next door which is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or simply catch up with family and friends! The views are wonderful, and it is a bright room due to being south facing with views of the Cheviot Hills overlooking the river Tweed and the rolling Scottish Borders countryside. The country style farm kitchen is across the hallway, it is well equipped, and you will find a handy utility room next door with a washing machine. Head back into the hallway and down three steps, you will find a formal sitting room, this room has lots of comfy seats with an open fire, it is a great place to chat, read a good book or play a game of cards. Head up the original staircase to the first floor you will find a welcoming landing and hallway with bookshelves and seating and there are five individually styled bedrooms on this floor, a super king size, two family rooms with two double beds a super king size zip and link (which can be made into a twin on request) sofa bed, and super king zip and link room. three of the bedrooms have an en suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and WC, one bedroom has an en suite bath with a power shower over the bath and WC and completing the property is a fifth bathroom with a bath and power shower over the bath and WC. The garden is a real suntrap, south facing, and it offers a great place to relax, after a long walk or cycle why not unwind in the covered hot tub.
