Resting in the charming historic market town of Colyton, on the edge of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is The Fernery, a characterful three-bedroom cottage with a separate Garden Studio and Courtyard Annex. Benefitting from a central location, just a short walk from a range of local amenities, this delightful property offers a range of flexible sleeping options accommodating up to 12 guests, so is an ideal choice for larger families or groups of friends wishing to holiday together. The main house accommodates 6 guests and has a farmhouse kitchen, family dining room, homely sitting room with feature fireplace TV and comfortable seating and separate snug for those wanting to relax and sit quietly with a book. As the night unfolds guests have the choice of 3 bedrooms including a king-size with en-suite shower room, a further king-size, and a twin. A separate family bathroom has a bath with shower over and with a TV fitted above the bath it will make the children’s bath time a real treat. The Garden Studio is a contemporary, single-storey lodge, located within the grounds of The Fernery and can accommodate up to 4 guests. The studio style layout has a king-sized bed and additional sofa bed, large projector TV, modern kitchen and bathroom with bath with shower over. A wooden decked veranda wraps around the front and side of the studio to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining or to sit quietly in a deck chair with a book to relax and take in the tranquil garden setting. The Courtyard Room is a self-contained studio room sleeping 2 guests with double bed and adjoining bathroom with small corner bath, separate shower enclosure, wc and wash basin, small fridge and TV. The Courtyard Room is separate from the main house and enjoys views over the courtyard and main house. Outside there is a delightful courtyard seating area with furniture. Steps lead from the courtyard to a spacious garden with mature shrubs, pretty borders and fruit trees. A decked seating area provides an idea spot to make the most of the garden setting & enjoy some alfresco dining. The garden also has an established vegetable plot, small pond and a children’s play area. Colyton itself is a town steeped in history and retains many old buildings and features of a bygone age. The town boasts a wonderful selection of traditional shops, including an award winning butchers and traditional bakery, alongside galleries, artisan eateries and tea rooms. Hop on the tram and take a ride alongside the River Axe to Seaton. For nature lovers, enjoy the beautiful marshlands and reed beds with over 4km of level trails and boardwalks and home to an abundance of wildlife. A 20 minute drive will take you to the picturesque seaside town of Lyme Regis with its family friendly beaches and famous Cobb harbour together with attractions such as the aquarium, and fossil museums where you can learn about the rich geological history of this popular stretch of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. For animal lovers looking for a great day out, travel to nearby Sidmouth and enjoy a visit to the donkey sanctuary (open 7 days a week) or in nearby Axminister the Axe Valley Animal Park is a small and friendly zoo situated in the beautiful countryside of the Axe Valley.
