As the evening grows dark, retire to the sitting room, where you can snuggle up on the plush seating in front of a much-loved show on the TV. When your eyes grow heavy, retreat to one two well-presented bedrooms, a double and a twin, to catch your rest. Explore the local village, where you can dine out at The Queens Head, order in from Taste of China, or stock up on essentials at the well-stocked convenience store. Be sure to visit nearby Staindrop, home to the magnificent Raby Castle Park and Gardens, complete with deer park, along with the eateries of The Wheatsheaf Inn and The Country Tea Shop & Restaurant. Continue on to Bishop Auckland, where you can tour the Auckland Castle and Deer House, test out your swing at the excellent golf club, or delve into history at the Bishop Auckland People’s Museum. Further afield, you will find Durham, with its remarkable cathedral, Crook Hall and Gardens and impressive castle. There is so much to see and do with a stay at Church View Cottage.
