The area is scattered with walking trails, wildlife and beautiful scenes including RSPB Mersehead, Mares Braids Waterfall and Bainloch Deer Park, whilst the town of Castle Douglas is a short drive away; the town hosts supermarkets and eateries such as The Earth's Crust Bakery, with the island fortress of Threave Castle just on the outskirts. Spend the day in Dalbeattie to discover local artefacts at Dalbeattie Museum Trust, take a walk through Dalbeattie Forest Town Wood or for more of Scotland's renowned golfing, head to Dalbeattie Golf Club.
