Halfways, Belper

Derbyshire. Sleeps up to 4

Situated on the outskirts of the market town of Belper, Derbyshire lies Halfways, a charming stone-built end-terrace cottage ideal for a family or group of friends. Resting within easy reach of the Peak District National Park and boasting off-road parking, this property is ideal for adventure seekers looking to explore or a relaxing holiday amongst the pretty countryside. Stepping into the property, the traditionally-styled sitting room, complete with a two plush armchairs and a matching sofa, invites you in to kick off your shoes and cosy up with your loved ones in front of the Smart TV as the gas living-flame fire warms up the space. Take advantage of the electric range cooker in the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner and whip up some tasty meals for the family to enjoy at the dining table as you catch up on the day's events; the kitchen is bursting with character with its exposed stone wall and original beams, and is also home to a handy washing machine to keep your clothes fresh after a long day of exploring the local area. As the evening grows darker, climb the stairs to the first floor to discover the bedrooms; the first bedroom is home to a pleasant double bed and ample storage to unpack your belongings, and the remaining two bedrooms host single beds ideal for adults, or for the younger members of the group to rest their heads ahead of another fun-filled day of exploring. Completing this delightful property is the outdoor space; an enclosed courtyard with decking and furniture provides the perfect place for a spot of al fresco dining as you savour a glass of wine in the last of the summer sun while before snuggling around the chimenea one the sun has set. Spend your days exploring the Belper; stop for lunch in one of the many eating establishments such as Nonno's Restaurant for delicious Italian cuisine or perhaps try the trendy Vegan Revelation, both within walking distance from the dwelling. The town and surrounding areas are home to numerous attractions and walking and cycling routes; a footpath leads from the property, through a park and into the town centre, where you can see North Mill, a bridge bringing architectural and historical significance to the area due to its vital role throughout the industrial revolution. A short car journey or longer walk will take you to the historic Heage Windmill, one of the only stone-built windmills in the country, or venture slightly further afield to Elvaston Castle Country Park, home to magnificent castle set over 321 acres and complete with stunning historical gardens and woodlands, perfect for all ages and abilities. If you are visiting with younger members of the group, Matlock Farm Park is reachable by car and a fascinating day out for the whole family where you can get up close with the farm animals before stopping at the café for a cup of tea and a light lunch. Thrill seekers will enjoy the nearby theme park, Alton Towers; popular among tourists year round, the theme park has plenty of rides for vary ages, as well as an aquarium and children's shows running throughout the day. For a family holiday any time of year, choose Halfways for a break you won't forget.
