Appleby's train station is a major stop on the famous Settle to Carlisle Railway, an epic train journey taking you along one of the most scenic and impressive railways of the UK with viaducts, tunnels and stunning views to admire, the 72-miles of track will take you on an unforgettable trip well worth taking. Explore the beautiful Eden Valley with a walk from Appleby-in-Westmorland to Hoff and then Great Ormside and back, passing everything from castles and rivers to water mills and waterfalls.
