Just a short drive away is the market town of Tewkesbury, home to a medieval abbey with a Romanesque tower, as well as The John Moore Countryside Museum and the Tewkesbury Battlefield, the famous site of the ‘Wars of Roses’, here you can watch re-enactments, a marketplace, stalls and rides. Next stop is Cheltenham, well-known for its racecourse which plays host to the annual Cheltenham Festival, here you will also find the fascinating Pittville Pump Room, a superb selection of art at The Wilson museum and the Victorian Everyman Theatre, a 658-seat auditorium which hosts live performances and shows. Be sure to make a stop at Gloucester, where you can tour a former prison and embark on a ghost hunting tour, marvel at the remarkable 11th century cathedral or learn more at the National Waterways Museum.
