Knipton is home to a charming Post Office with a village store, perfect for picking up any essentials before venturing into the hamlet of Harston or the beautiful village of Branston for a pint at The Wheel, a traditional country pub offering quality food and drink. Visit nearby Waltham on the Wolds, home to a fantastic deli and excellent local produce. From this quaint dwelling there are numerous walking and cycling paths within easy reach, including a circular route from Croxton to Branston, along with many lakeside walks and landmarks such as the grand fortress of Belvoir Castle and their unique Engine Yard artisan retail village. Keen walkers will relish in venturing down to just outside Woolsthorpe, which is on the Viking Way and Jubilee Way, and rewarding themselves with a pint at The Chequers Pub or the Dirty Duck situated on the canal route, before heading back via Harston. Visit the National Trust's Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, Easton Walled Gardens and Grimsthorpe Castle, both members of Historic Houses. Or enjoy a day at Twinlakes Park, a ride on the Great Central Railway or cycling and boating at Rutland Water. For a relaxing break amidst this scenic part of the country, choose The Old Mower Shed.
