With its incredible sense of history, this recently-restored ancient manor house is perfect for groups celebrating an occasion or exploring the area. Sitting in the small countryside village of Horton, next to the church, the house is surrounded by an open undulating garden, with some low level walls and uneven steps, and overlooks mature woodland. The garden has a beautiful lake set within the grounds, which isn’t enclosed, please be aware if you have children in your party. Inside, the recent renovation project is evident everywhere you look, like the glorious panelling and Pastiche ceiling in the formal sitting and dining room. Pause to enjoy the full length floor to ceiling windows overlooking the gardens or move through to the garden room. The large homely kitchen with its bespoke units also has a dining table big enough for everyone, perfect for lazy breakfasts together. Upstairs there are five bedrooms, sleeping up to ten people and with four bathrooms, you’ll be able to imagine life as lord of the manor.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from the grandeur of the house, you’ll find yourselves less than 15 miles from the bustling city of Bath, and it’s neighbour, the vibrant and cosmopolitan Bristol, perfect for a stroll round the harbourside on a sunny day, or nipping up to elegant Clifton for a lunch overlooking Brunel’s famous suspension bridge. You’re also on the western edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, so there’s a myriad of charming honey-coloured towns, villages and countryside to explore; from Tetbury to Stow-on-the-Wold, Broadway, Bourton on the Water and Burford.
