Sandybury Barn, Bridgnorth

Shropshire. Sleeps up to 7

Set against a landscape of ancient woodland, conifer plantations and brimming pools, Dudmaston is a large working estate which stretches across 3,000 acres of park and woodland. With plenty of paths and trails, put your walking shoes on or hop on a bike and discover all that Dudmaston has to offer.

Sandybury Barn is a rustic but contemporary holiday cottage that’s nestled in the rolling hills of the Shropshire countryside. Its double-height windows and open-plan living area create a light and spacious place to relax. There’s also built-in accessibility, so every need is catered for, with a wheelchair-friendly bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor and kitchen with accessible features.

With three more bedrooms upstairs, there’s plenty of room for all the family. If you’re lucky, you might also get to meet some feathered house guests, as we have an owl box on site with a spy cam so you can see if anyone is home. You can also indulge in a bit of nature watching from the mezzanine, looking out through the barn’s original entrance. On dark winter nights you can snuggle in front of the woodburner in the living room and on long summer evenings you can enjoy meals al fresco in your own private garden, with seated area and BBQ.

If you want to bring a bike on which to explore the Dudmaston Estate, there is a bike rack in the open cart shed next door, so you can safely store your cycle under cover. You won’t be short of things to see and do on your stay. The varied habitat of Dudmaston encourages an abundance of different wildlife, from its resident birds to water voles, otters and dragonflies. Sandybury Barn is only a short drive to Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd, both give lots of opportunities to walk through beautiful Shropshire countryside.

You can also uncover the history of Dudmaston Hall, a much-loved 17th-century family home. Venture around the traditional rooms from the panelled entrance hall to the sunlit library with stunning views over the garden and Big Pool. Discover the stories of the family and workers on the estate both past and present.
