Originally an ancient forge dating back to the 1600s, the cottage is in the grounds of an old manor house in bucolic countryside close to the chocolate box village of Godshill. The property is surrounded by enchanting gardens that include extensive lawned areas and an attractive duck pond. Walkers and cyclists will love the location of the cottage nearby you can pick up trails to Godshill, while other routes follow the course of the River Yar that meanders down to the south coast. The sandy beaches of Shanklin and Sandown are a short drive away, as is the vibrant market town of Newport and the impressive medieval castle at Carisbrooke. Furnished and equipped in a traditional style with antique furniture, the cottage is accessed via two sets of steps onto a terrace. Here, doors lead into a large, open plan lounge/diner furnished with armchairs and sofas great for unwinding in front of the TV plus an attractive dining area with a table and seats for six. French doors lead out to the lovely garden. The kitchen includes an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, freezer and small breakfast area, while you also have use of a tumble dryer. A door in the kitchen leads to a small single bedroom that features a compact en suite bathroom with WC. Upstairs there are two additional bedrooms one double and one twin, both with en suite shower rooms with shower and WC. Outside you have use of a delightful fenced garden at the front of the cottage, with a lawn and a secluded patio plus garden furniture so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. Visitors have access to the lovely lake in the grounds, which is home to a variety of ducks. There is off road parking for up to three cars immediately outside the property.
