Barn in County Durham, Hamsterley

County Durham. Sleeps up to 6

The middle of three beautiful farm conversions, nestled in a quiet spot in the pretty countryside, this charming property offers a wealth of beautiful places to explore on established footpaths and cycle routes, and further afield by car. Walk to the pub for a drink, while nearby Bishop Auckland, home of the annual Kynren spectacle, offers supermarkets, shops and restaurants. Buy local produce from the weekly farmers market in historic Barnard Castle with more great amenities. Enjoy miles of beautiful walking and cycling trails in Hamsterley Forest, visit the bird sanctuary or try fly fishing at Witton Castle and head to Raby Castle for a stroll amongst grazing deer. Visit family at the university in the nearby cathedral city of Durham. Walk through the gate into the enclosed patio area and step into the open plan kitchen/diner; there are a couple of bar stools where you can sit with your morning coffee and listen to the radio. You can relax in the kitchen while preparing your meals using the electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a dining table and seating for six to enjoy your meals together and sit with maps and guidebooks planning your days out. Pass from the dining area into the spacious lounge with a cosy wood burner and comfortable seating where you can sit back and watch a programme on the TV/DVD together. The French doors lead onto the patio so you can enjoy both outdoor and indoor living in this space. Just off the dining area, you will find the two ground floor bedrooms. The double bedroom has a mirrored wardrobe to store your belongings and a Smart TV so you can enjoy a lie in, and there is also a lovely twin bedroom. The inviting shower room is beautifully tiled and has a large rainfall shower and WC. Head up the open tread spiral staircase for the light and airy master bedroom with a double bed, and en suite bathroom with bath and WC and a large window and vaulted ceiling where you can unwind in peace enjoying a bubble bath. Outside, there are two areas available to extend your days outdoors; the enclosed patio with a table and seating accessible from both the kitchen and lounge where you can enjoy breakfast on sunny mornings, and a separate enclosed, lawned garden at the rear where children can play safely directly opposite the cottage and with more garden furniture for al fresco dining. If you have brought bikes with you, then you will want to make use of the bike store. There is private, off road parking for two cars, plus additional off road parking available on request.
