Stroll across Minchinhampton and Rodborough Commons to experience stunning scenery, as well as offering one of the three local 18-hole golf courses for an afternoon of family fun. Walk alongside cows and horses which roam freely from May to November and take refreshment in one of the historic inns (including The Old Lodge, 10 minutes walk from the cottage across the common, reputed to have been Henry VIII’s hunting lodge), and Winstone’s Ice Cream Factory, wonderfully ideal for the summer months. The area is a haven for cyclists with hundreds of miles of virtually traffic-free lanes through the stunning rolling hills of Gloucestershire and guests who bring their own bikes can store them securely in the lockable courtyard. The area is also popular for horse-riders with events such as Badminton Horse Trails and Gatcombe (only 2 miles away), a day's Horse-riding can be enjoyed at Barton End stables in nearby Nailsworth. Stroud can be found within easy reach, hosting a farmers’ market on Saturdays, as well as being known for its vibrant music, poetry and artistic scene or head to Cheltenham for its renowned science, literature and music festivals or for a day at the races!
