Glanwye Lower Barn, Hereford

Herefordshire. Sleeps up to 2

Glanwye Lower Barn is a charming, newly-converted barn which sleeps 2 people. It's in a delightful setting on a smallholding just a 10 minute walk from Hay on Wye. The holiday accommodation is tranquil with a stylish French farmhouse feel with lovely furniture and being newly renovated is very well equipped. It's a perfect holiday house to escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life, enjoy the rural peace yet within a few minutes walk of picturesque Hay-on-Wye, The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons National Park.

The Accommodation

The front door opens onto the bright and airy sitting room with a flag-stone floor, a wood burning stove, and double doors looking out onto the farm beyond. The sitting room is between the kitchen at one end of the barn and the bedroom and bathroom at the other.

The swish kitchen is semi open plan. It's well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, electric fan oven, hob and microwave. The fridge has a small freezer department. Coffee lovers will appreciate the cafetiere and milk frother. There is plenty of worktop and storage space, and a dining table and chairs.

The shower room has Travertine tiles, and big walk in shower, towel heater, wc and basin.

The bedroom has a king-sized bed with luxurious linen, vintage chandeliers and French bedside tables.

Patio area with seating and BBQ

The owners run a small market vegetable garden, keep rare breed chickens, geese and ducks and have a small herd of Anglo Nubian goats on the smallholding. It's well worth sampling the vegetables and the delicious raw milk camembert cheese. They follow organic principles in all their farming.

The friendly owners invite guests to wander around the farm (it borders a lovely stretch of the River Wye with some perfect picnic areas), and are happy to give tours of the small holding.

The holiday cottage is just 10 minutes from the cultural hub which is Hay on Wye. Hay is home to the Hay Literary Festival, and is choc-a-bloc with independent book shops, antiques, cafes and restaurants. There is a fabulous market, look out for the owner's stall there on Thursdays and Saturdays - Hay has everything you need for a happy relaxed holiday - you hardly need to take out the car.
